Summary of the Truly Agreed Version of the Bill

HS HCS SCS SB 10 -- REVIVAL OF JUDGMENTS

Currently, a judgment from a court is valid for 10 years, unless
the plaintiff revives the judgment by serving the defendant
again with a notice of the judgment. However, with judgments
ordering child support or maintenance, the 10-year statute of
limitation is applied to each monthly payment separately, as
those payments become due. This bill applies the same rule to
monthly payments (that will be due in the future) from pensions,
retirement, life insurance, and other employee benefits, when
they are awarded as part of a dissolution of marriage judgment.

The bill also clarifies that an action to emancipate a child,
and any personal service or order rendered therein, will not
revive a child support order.

Finally, the bill extends the duration of judgment liens on real
estate from 3 years to 10 years.
